Most wedding planners start their business as a solo operation. They are the planner, sales person, marketing manager, billing department, customer service and more. It can be a major challenge to juggle all the hats when what you really want to focus on is what you got in it for; the wedding planning.
This was my origin story as well. It took years to reach a point where I could even fathom the idea of handing off any of these responsibilities. But one day, reality set in....
Story time:
A few years into building Popped Event Planning, everything was running smoothly. In the middle of wedding season, I learned I needed to have a small operation and scheduled it for a week that I didn't have a wedding, closer to the end of season. It was a routine outpatient operation and I gave myself nearly two weeks of recovery before the next wedding. At the time, the only semblance of a team I had was another local event planner. So I contracted her (and my dad, yeesh!) to be an extra set of hands and help with any heavy lifting.
Unfortunately things don't always go according to plan and there were some major complications with that surgery. For about 2 months I was in and out of the hospital. In addition to the immense physical pain, and frustration of not knowing what was going on, was the stress of upcoming weddings. Some weeks I was in the hospital, discharged on a Thursday, ceremony rehearsal Friday, wedding Saturday, back in the hospital by Monday. I was sneaking out of a hospital bed in the middle of the night to get my laptop to finish a seating chart and respond to emails.
It was an incredibly stressful time in my life and business. But once everything settled down, it became abundantly clear that if I wanted to have any type of long term success, I couldn't do it all alone.
Which brings me to where Popped Event Planning is today...
I want to bring this team to those who want to get into this industry and know that we can't do it alone. We are better together with the support and the tools to be successful together. The one key ingredient that can lead to long term success when building a wedding planning business is a team to support you.
This is the vision for the future of Popped Event Planning. We are building something great and we'd love for you to be a part of it.
